Hello my name is James Huskey. I am the owner and founder of Silver Lining Windows & Siding. I am as straight forward as it gets in this business. If you want a bunch of hype, cheap sales and advertisement tacticts, we are not your company! I refuse to inflate our company by using terms like "We have over 15 years experience" and "60 years combined experience". This is very misleading. Sure, I have been in the home improvement industry for 15 years but I started Silver Lining Windows and Siding in August 2005. I have worked for many home improvement companies in this business. I have learned what to do and what not to do from many respected owners and operators in this business. We are a member of the Greater Houston BBB and we are fully insured.
I thought long and hard about how we could be different. One way is to offer many product options. Two, I plan to keep my business small and personal. And,Three, No Salesmen! All of my customers will deal with me personally.
With all of this said, If you are reading this, You are just beginning your education process on investing in new replacement windows or you have already been through a portion of the horrible estimate process. There are a lot of choices out there and it can get very confusing. Many companies out there have exclusive contracts with a manufacturer. This gets them a terratorrial advanatage on that one series of window. Then they will push that one window on every customer that they visit with. It must be the best window, because it is the only window that they carry. The pricing spectrum is a whole other issue.
"The Window Mills"
You have your budget franchises that have to sacrifice the quality of the installation because they have to cut costs to get the window pricing lower. The installers that work for these companies agree to lower their labor costs because of the promise of volume. This makes YOU A NUMBER, not a customer. Often times this type of company will cut costs by having the salesman measure the windows. This is dangerous and a big gamble on your home. The installer won't even see your home until the day of the installation. More times than not the salesman is so busy selling volume that they forget about the customer's needs. The lack of training that the salemen recieve only worsens the situation. If you are having one of these companies out or have already done so, ask the salesman technical questions about the actual performance data on the glass. Ask them about the actual thickness of the vinyl extrusion itself. Ask them about a STC rating... (sound transmission classification) Most of them will give you the blank stare and tell you that they will get back with you. This isn't their fault. "Window Mills" lack time for training, their objective is to get as many salesmen selling and windows turning that the salesmen are left with limited product knowledge with the exception of the basics. At any rate, the consumer will suffer because of it.
"The Heavy Hitters"
Then there is the media blasting over-priced company with expensive celebrity endorsements and gigantic advertisement budgets. Fancy, Fast Talking salesmen who will spend 20 minutes talking about their products and services and 2 Hours trying to get YOUR MONEY!!! Let's face it folks..... SOMEBODY has to pay for it. Where does the money come from? YOUR POCKET!!! Because of their "Claim to Fame" approach many consumers are swallowed up by all of the hype and they will pay twice the price for a comperable window to the budget companies. Again, the one window approach.
I have a simple common sense question for you. How can one window be right for every single consumer? As consumers, we all have different budgets, needs, wants and expectations. This is what makes you unique. It takes a unique company to satisfy all aspects of todays unique consumers. This is where we come in....
"The Solution"
Here at Silver Lining Windows & Siding we have developed our entire process around our customers. We have 5 different lines of replacement windows with a multitude of series and options. I have devoted my years of experience with other companies and working with dozens of manufacturers to gain vast knowledge of most of the products available in this market. I will use this knowledge to help you find the best investment for your budget. It is that simple. I will take all of the guess work out of the process for you. Most importantly, I will educate you and I will answer any questions honestly and thoroughly. I will make sure that you are a dangerous consumer!!!
